August was a big month for our students. Congratulations to Nathan Bailey, Nick Shih, McKale Smith, Nolan Smith, Elizabeth Gaskill, and Stephen Orta on earning their new Dan ranks!
Getting to this level takes a lot of time on the mat. It means years of showing up, learning, practicing, struggling with things that don't come easily, and then practicing some more.
Of course, earning a black belt doesn't mean you've finished learning. In many ways, you're just getting started. Training changes as you move into the Dan ranks, with new material to learn, old material to understand more deeply, and more responsibility within the dojang.
We're proud of all of them and everything they've put into reaching this point.
Congratulations, everyone!

Saturday's Promotion Testing marked a milestone at LOMA, with two candidates testing for Master-level 4th Degree Black Belt, one for 3rd Degree, and one for 1st Degree — plus several color belts advancing in rank. It was a day full of determination, discipline, and skill, as students at every level showed composure, focus, and genuine passion for the art. Special Thank you to Edie Parsons and Angie Manous for Judging. Way to go, everybody!
