A: Grappling refers to a range of techniques and strategies used in martial arts to immobilize, control, or submit an opponent through grappling, throws, and joint locks.
Q: Is martial arts suitable for all ages?
A: Yes! Martial arts can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from young children to seniors.
Q: What are the benefits of practicing martial arts?
A: The benefits of practicing martial arts include improved physical fitness, increased flexibility and strength, greater mental focus and discipline, enhanced self-esteem and confidence, and the ability to defend oneself in dangerous situations.
Q: Do I need any prior experience to start training in martial arts?
A: Absolutely not! Our classes are designed to cater to students of all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners.
Q: What equipment do I need for martial arts training?
A: Depending on the specific style of martial arts, you may need to purchase equipment such as a uniform, protective gear (e.g. headgear, gloves, shin guards), and training weapons (e.g. staff, sword). You will not need anything to start training.
Q: How often should I attend classes?
A: We recommend attending classes at least two to three times a week in order to make consistent progress and reap the benefits of martial arts training. Those that cannot make at least two classes a week are encouraged to practice at home.
Q: Are there different levels or belts in Taekwondo, Jodo, and grappling?
A: Yes, each of these martial arts has its own belt system to mark progress and rank. Our instructors will provide more information on the specific belt system for each martial art.
Q: Do I have to compete in tournaments to progress in Taekwondo, Jodo, and grappling?
A: No, competition is not required to progress in these martial arts. We offer a range of classes for students who are interested in competition, as well as those who prefer to focus on self-defense and personal development.
Q: Can I try a class before committing?
A: Yes, we offer trial classes so you can get a feel for our teaching style and training environment before deciding to commit to a membership.
